As promised! Click the flyer or the button beneath it to get your tickets and join us on September 19 at the Echo Theater in the colorful Hawthorne District of Portland, Oregon.
For one night only, as a benefit for Sparkle On, we're screening The Sparkle Celebration: Kara's Memorial Rock Concert! This feature-length film documents Kara's celebration of life from professionally edited performance footage, photography, and on-the-fly recordings taken during one of the gnarliest, most destructive ice storms in the city's history. Seriously—with all the stairs outside the venue, it's a miracle no one got injured that night.
We'll also have live air guitar performances, pop-up tattooing, fairy hair styling, a raffle, and the official premiere of the Sparkle On documentary trailer. Obviously, I'm biased, but Adam showed me the rough cut a couple of weeks ago and it not only looks straight up cinematic, it brought all the feels AND melted my face off!
Side note: I chose the 19th—the actual anniversary is Sept. 14th—to honor the third anniversary of Kara's passing.
If you can't attend, you can still participate. Share this post, join our GoFundMe, follow the film project on Instagram and Facebook, or mix yourself a bloody beer or mojito—two of my wife's favorite beverages—and raise a glass to her. Word is, if you down it in one gulp, you may just invoke her sparkly spirit. That woman didn't drink too often, but when she did, she quaffed her ale like Thor!
Okay. I've been salesy enough for this post. Thank you for reading this far.
Until next time.
